So many great books, so little time on earth.

So little time in this world to read all the great books that are out there. I hate it when thoughts like this occur to me. No matter how many books I read I will never be able to read as many as I want to. For every one I have read and loved (or in rare cases hated) there will always be a million more that I haven’t read and won’t ever have the chance to. I find myself resenting things that get in the way of my reading. On Super Bowl Sunday while most of the people I know are parked in front of the TV, I’m in the middle of a great book –Sinners and the Sea, by Rebecca Kanner–

As usual, the rest of the world passes by while my nose is in a book. I can’t imagine a better way of spending my day…except maybe if there was chocolate involved while I was reading. I find that the ambiance of the room I am in has a lot to do with how easily I can connect with a book and how much the writing affects me. I have posted on a place outdoors I like to go and read, but inside the house, I love my breakfast nook. There is something about the natural light streaming through the windows and the old ratty armchair everyone has begged me t get rid of for eons that just feels right to ponder the world of books in. Where do you go when you want to just read? Is there a specific room in your your home that makes you feel more like reading than another?

  1. I like to read on my couch in the living room. It’s right by a big window that looks out onto the street. It’s nice and quiet because everyone else is in the family room. My two year old doggie likes to curl up at my feet and with a nice steaming cup of coffee it is pure bliss.

  2. I love sitting in the big, old, comfy armchair that was my husband’s Nanna’s. It’s in the spare room and looks out onto the garden. It’s so peaceful.

  3. I like to read in a number of places, but if the sun is shining and it’s warm then putting my feet up with a small nest of cushions, on a bench in my garden is wonderful. you get all the warmth plus birds plus scents and lovely things to look up when you look up….
By the way, I’ve nominated you for The Very Inspiring Blog award. If you wish to accept you need to add the award to your site; post 7 things about yourself that are very different and then nominate some more awardees of course.

  4. I usually keep a book in about four different rooms of the house, so depending what room I’m in, I’m reading on the couch, in the chair in front of the fireplace in the kitchen, in bed, or the couch in the bonus room. I also love reading outside when it’s not below freezing like it is today!

  5. I am really enjoying your blog! A good book and a lovely cup of tea on my front porch- that’s just heaven to me. I also lament about how many books I want to read and wonder if I will ever have the chance. So I just keep reading and try not to worry!
