Have you ever met one of those people who just inspire you to be a better person, but they have no idea the type of effect they have on others? I have. Her name is Briana Vedsted. She is without doubt, the sweetest, kindest person I have ever met, but she is so humble that she will never admit to it. I met Briana when she approached me early in the year to review one of her books, and she has quickly become one of my dearest friends. If you haven’t checked out her blog yet, please take a moment to do so. When I became an author
So Briana, this is for you little sis.
Going through life, looking at faces
finding new places, all begins to blend.
Once in a while we’re lucky, to find a special friend.
Someone who opens doors, makes us stop and think
about what this life is for.
Someone who makes us laugh, makes us smile,
reminds us that, it’s worth the while.
Someone who so often
doesn’t know the value of their gift;
never stops to appreciate
the way they give a heart a lift.
A ray of glowing sunshine,
a bright spot in the dim,
a hand to grasp onto,
when we’re too tired to swim
In this world there is darkness
so many reasons to fear
but you light up the world
for whomever you are near
We all love you Bri! Thanks for everything you do to make this world a happier place to be.
(Now back to regularly scheduled swearing, sarcasm, cynicism and narcissism.) I had a moment. Don’t tell anyone.

I’m going to surprise you one of these days when I just happen to be in Nevada, and I’m going to get to give you a real hug.
I have never had a friend who was there for me like you always are. I never had a friend who talked to me and treated me like their equal. I guess that is because I just hadn’t met you yet. Your blogs and comments always make me smile. Everything you do makes my life better. Thank you, my dear friend and sister.

I got all misty-eyed with this poem, Ionia, and knowing Briana the bit that I do, it was spot-on. For the length of your poem, I felt a warmth that comes only from kindness and good hearts. And it will likely be with me for the rest of day and whenever I happen to think of Briana and you … even when Briana “bleeps” and you express yourself in coarser terms ๐
